DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979- You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine
Probably only the special insularity of two hip young men would (or maybe could) produce the heavy-duty marvel that is Death From Above. They kind of sound like Vice magazine reads: part stupidity, part grotesquery, part guilty pleasure, part pure cool thing. Imagine double kick drum madness and amps up loud bass guitar and synth in a hybrid pop metal style turned way, way loud. Then witness the two rakish tattooed and facial-haired fellas who are behind this awesome chaos, baseball caps askew. Yes, it all comes together. The proof is that this shit rocks pretty hard and in a way that is technical without being showy, like if Nomeansno were a Three Inches of Blood cover band. Behind it all, the tunes come first before any tricks are attached, even if style is set high on the dial for these guys: they look good as well as play hard. The final summation: chances for success are first-rate. Avail Sept 7th
