Who says good Absinthe isn’t available in America? From the sound of this release, these Detroit psyche pop damsels have got some pretty fine wormwood on the sugar cube. Their third recording for the Kill Rock Stars label is a soupy mix of swirling guitar melodies, hypnotic Velvet Underground-esque rhythms, and gorgeous vocal harmonies. It’s been a while since we heard a band tapping into the simple charms of expressionist pop, but like Galaxie 500, Slumber Party’s drowsy reverberated chords are the active ingredients in a heady reverie.
