Wandering and wondering, I made my way through eastside backyards, the night sky lit by particles charged in the darkness. There were numerous blankets and candles to guide me and give me rest. There were numerous liquors to soothe my parched throat and thus release my demons. There were numerous windows left ajar from which came forth the waltz of this tranquil night. Enrapt, I gave myself to the phantom sound I heard, a séance channeling the pensive country twang of Neil Young, the Dark Star looseness of the Dead, and meditative colors of George Harrison. In spirit language, My Morning Jacket speaks from the other side of pop music, asking emphatically: Are you willing to cross over? Are you willing to stumble through the twilight? Are you willing to board the ghost ship that will carry you away? Are you willing to move? Available Sept 9th.
