DEAD MEADOW- Feathers
On their second Matador release (the first being the stunning “Shivering King and Others”) the Meadow find themselves cloaked still in the eerie bog of Sabbath and the soaring grey of Hawkwind. Dense sounds in expansive woods with guitars drawn like swords held high - in tribute not in battle. There seems to be more and more of a market for this type of stoner-friendly headrock and as far as I’m concerned it’s welcome respite. “Feathers” is the best possible antidote to coffee-table rock and pleasant shopping muzak, and the perfect soundtrack to being high as hell and just not bothering to take it anymore.
