THE FALL- 50,000 Fall Fans Can’t Be Wrong
Starting with the ponderous “Repition” and ending with the thunderous “Green-Eyed Loco Man”, this is the first ever compilation to give a comprehensive overview of The Fall’s entire career. Spanning a quarter century of avant-savant waywardness, 50, 000 Fall Fans… is the ideal entry point to a bafflingly large/cluttered back catalogue. Somehow, Beggars Banquet have managed to license tracks from every era of the band’s label-hopping career. In doing so, they have created a bargain-priced double CD that is both a compelling history lesson and a truly addictive rock epic in its own right. It makes clear what true fans have long known: Mark E Smith and his revolving cast of cohorts have created the most multi-dimensional body of work in rock history without appearing to have changed their style very much at all. The Fall remain a divine contradiction. Terrible cover, though.
