In much the same way that mentor Will Oldham chose metamorphosis of nomenclature as a means to diversify his discography (while charting new sonic directions, collaborations, etc), Songs:Ohia’s central figure Jason Molina has evolved his oeuvre now recording under the enigmatic Magnolia Electric Co. Yes, this was indeed the title of his last and best recordings, and fittingly so Molina uses its rich folk tones and deeply personal writing as a springboard for this the next phase in his esteemed career. Trial and Errors is a live recording; it is raw, purposely exposed, as if Molina wished his dark honest voice to lay bare before the listener thus revealing its enthralling charms.
