Lou Barlow is best known as the founder of the intimate loser-core outfit Sebadoh and thus a principal name in the lo-fi bedroom recording boom of the early 90’s. Earning comparisons to all the famous nature boys (Nick Drake, Syd Barrett, & Skip Spence), Barlow’s delicate songwriting vision can only be described as a direct and honest manifestation of the heart. Recalling the stripped down folk glory of his ‘Brand New Love’ and ‘Soul and Fire’, Lou’s new recordings on EMOH return to his ‘back to basics’ songwriting approach. These new tracks feature quiet acoustic guitars, alternatively tuned ukulele and extremely lush vocals. The results are a warm and rewarding listen. Enjoy.
