Vancouver lost a great and forward-thinking hardcore band with the passing of Sparkmarker. They were prescient, early exploring the post-hardcore punk that has since reified into a mostly-vacuous growth industry. In those more innocent times, the frenetic Ryan Scott fronted the group, before Kim Kinakin took over as Sparkmarker matured. Marking Scott's public return to music-making, Deadsure are a driving and riff-heavy quartet in the tradition he once helped define. Welcome back, welcome home and turn it up.
