SEACHANGE- Lay Of The Land
A few nights ago I went out to a club and took a wrong turn on route to the lavatories. I went through a door and found myself in a room with three chiefly people staring back at me. One, who was slowly counting out money, told me to shut up and take a seat, which I did in the corner. Then, a taller one went over to the stereo and put on a disc which I can today tell you was Seachange’s “Lay of the Land”. “So kid, what do you think?” he asked me. “Well, it’s very good. Sort of in the same tone as Interpol and….” “Don’t ever say that word in here” he abruptly interjected. What had I done? Who exactly were these three? The questions continued “Do you think they have talent?” I let out a small laugh and then felt a sharp prong of electricity pierce through my chest. Later I woke up outside the club with a copy of the disc in my leather jacket. Listening to it now, I can tell you that the wailing drone rock of UK’s Seachange sounds extremely explosive. Enjoy.
